UK Lotto History
The history of the UK Lotto is a relatively new & successful story. Before 1994 there was no national lottery in the UK to speak of, within a few months of the launch of the UK National Lottery it was inconceivable to imagine there not being a national lottery game in the UK.
This draw has now become a staple diet of the British people. The rapid growth and huge popularity of the UK Lotto has generated a buzz online of it being a lottery worth playing worldwide.
The UK Lotto lottery has 6 separate prize divisions where you can win money. This draw has not succumbed to additional prize tiers yet like the EuroMillions and EuroJackpot has. To win the top tier jackpot you must match 6 regular numbers from 1 – 59. The bonus ball selection is purely for the second-tier prize division. Please note that you can win millions in the UK Lotto without matching the Bonus Ball: Match all 6 regular numbers and you will become a UK Lotto instant millionaire!
UK Lotto Taxes
Prizes worth over £599 are by default subject to taxes and additional regulation required by law. Please check with the local authorities, depending on where you are based may affect how much tax, if any, you are eligible to pay.
What Happens When I Win?
When you win a jackpot, you will have two options as to how you would like to claim your winnings. The first is the most common, where jackpot winners are paid in a series of staggered payments. The second option to claim your winnings is to take a lump sum up-front payment. This figure will be anywhere from 50-80% of your matched jackpot figure. After you win the jackpot and your prize is validated by the Lottery, you will have 60 days to choose the cash value of the prize instead of the staggered payments option.
Tips & Tricks For Increasing Your Odds
The best way to increase your odds of winning a jackpot is to buy group game tickets. It’s pure logic, math and what more do lottery enthusiasts love!? When you buy group game tickets you essentially ‘pool together’ your tickets and therefore up your odds immensely.
For example: If you wanted to buy a single ticket for a UK Lotto draw it will cost you £2 offline, and anywhere up to £5 per ticket online. With a group game option, you buy shares in a preset group of tickets online. 50 tickets could make up one group (groups can be anywhere from 20-200 tickets grouped together). This group of 50 tickets is then split into 100 shares and each share can be sold separately, this way the player can buy a share in a group of 50 tickets for a price much cheaper, as little as $0.16 per ticket. If one of the group’s ticket is a winner then the winning amount will be split according to how many shares you have in the group.
So, if we have a group of 50 tickets, split into 100 shares and you buy 10 shares in the group, you own 10% of the group of 50 tickets. This means if the group of tickets has a winner in it, say £100,000.00, you would receive 10% of this total, meaning you would win £10,000.00.
